Roots & Heritage
Rev. Fr. Dr. M.D. Gunalan is fundamentally a Siddha doctor and an astronomer — a person with vast aspirations and dreams. He belongs to the seventh generation of the traditional Naturopathy and Siddha doctors' family, serving the poor and needy people who are the weaker sections of the community. He is identified as a research scholar for promoting traditional crops and protecting the red-listed herbals for creating a Diabetes Free World as an initiative.
Vision for the Green Revolution
Rev. Fr. Dr. Gunalan forecasted the critical need for food grains as agriculture lands are being converted into housing plots with the steady increase of population. He envisioned bringing about a GREEN REVOLUTION throughout India, demonstrating it as a model country for developing nations. For this, he championed cultivating the "NAVADHANYAM" — Kambu, Kelvaragu, Cholam, Irumbu Cholam, Samai, Varagu, Thinai, and Kadaikanni — as the best alternatives to rice and wheat, playing a vital role in preventing Diabetes, Hypertension, Cardiovascular diseases, Cancers, and Obesity.
Future Trust — Founded 2004
Future Trust took its first footprint in 2004, blossoming to serve rural people — especially marginalized women and children in tribal communities. Its prime focus is on promotion of Traditional Crops and protecting the red-listed herbals for creating a Diabetes Free World. It also promotes health through free awareness camps, free medical camps, distribution of medicines, and health awareness programmes on proper nutrition — covering Protein, Carbohydrates, Fats, Vitamins, and Minerals.
Sirumalai Hills — Cradle of Herbals
Within its early years, FUTURE TRUST won the confidence of the entire population. Its headquarters is situated at the Sirumalai Hills — historically called the "CRADLE OF HERBALS" due to its blanket of traditional herbal plants. Future Trust takes dedicated efforts to renew the herbals used for Siddha medicines and to cultivate the red-listed cereals and millets in and around Sirumalai Hills for the welfare of the community.
Nationwide NGO Network
FUTURE TRUST has extended its arms throughout India by establishing and maintaining strong networks with suitable, appropriate, and committed Non-Governmental Organisations. By funding them and serving the entire nation, it continues extending its family through networking with NGOs sharing common interests and objectives — spreading the mission of organic farming, herbal preservation, and community welfare from coast to coast.
“The land is not barren — the will to cultivate it has gone barren. Give the farmer his tools, his seeds, and his dignity, and he will feed the world.
