Introduction

Naturally, 33% of the land was fertile. According to present surveys, green/forest cover in Tamil Nadu and across India has dropped to 17%. It is the duty of every citizen to work towards restoring it back to 33%. If forest cover is increased, mountain wealth will grow and the quality of life for people will improve. Agriculture in India is deteriorating greatly — agricultural lands are becoming barren wastelands and being converted for construction. If this trend continues for five to six more years, our country will face severe drought and famine. To overcome food scarcity, increase rainfall, and take appropriate measures, an individual's noble idea has taken shape — the "Future Trust Mission for Vision."

Activities, Movement & Objectives

The activities, movement, and objectives of Future Trust are:

  • Promoting natural resource conservation
  • Planting trees such as Banyan (Aal), Fig (Atthi), Peepal (Arasu), Tamarind (Puliya), Pungam, and Magilam on private lands as forest/green wealth
  • Identifying barren lands in each district across India
  • Selecting 10,000 acres of land in each district and developing them into productive agricultural lands
  • Marketing — cultivating nine grains (Navadhanyam) using natural, organic methods, and marketing the produce to meet local demand
  • Assigning 100-acre plots to selected farmers through the Trust and Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
03

Natural Resource Conservation

Through Self-Help Groups, providing alternative livelihood training to rural people. SHGs will help each family maximize their resources, creating a stable and profitable economic status for farmers. Guiding farmers on tree-growing technology to develop farm orchards. Producing saplings in nurseries, creating awareness about tree planting, and distributing saplings free of cost through SHGs. Forming dairy farms for milk production — preparing organic fertilizers and pesticides through cattle rearing. In tribal areas like Kollakottai, Sirumala, and Kollamala — building homes for tribal people, creating collective gardens, collecting honey, rearing Kashmiri goats, and marketing forest produce to improve livelihoods.
